What recent clients said
"We came in with a cash-flow problem. Within six weeks, the team had restructured our billing cycle and freed up £40k in working capital we didn't know was stuck."
— D. Hargreaves, manufacturing director, Swansea"They sat with our ops team for three days before presenting anything. The recommendations were specific to our warehouse layout and shift patterns, not generic advice from a slide deck."
— R. Owens, logistics MD, Cardiff"Our board had been arguing about the same expansion question for a year. Value Driven gave us a decision framework that broke the deadlock in one session."
— T. Keane, non-exec chair, BristolBusiness Consulting that starts with your operating reality
Most consultancies pitch a methodology and then search for places to apply it. We work the other way round. We look at where your revenue actually comes from, where your costs hide, and which decisions your leadership team keeps deferring. Then we build the intervention around those specifics.
We are Value Driven Consults, a small firm based in Wales that works with owner-managed businesses and mid-market companies across the UK. Our engagements typically run between four and twelve weeks.
Capability map
We don't sell service packages. Below is the full range of problems we solve, the typical engagement shape, and the deliverable you walk away with.

How an engagement unfolds
Scoping call
A 30-minute conversation where you describe the situation. No preparation needed. We ask direct questions about revenue, team size, and the decision you're stuck on. If we can't help, we'll say so and suggest someone who can.
On-site diagnostic
One or two of our consultants spend time inside your business. We observe, interview key people, and pull the data that matters. This stage usually lasts between two and five days depending on the complexity.
Findings presentation
A candid document, not a polished slide show. We present what we found, what it means financially, and what we recommend. You decide whether to proceed with implementation support or handle it internally.
Implementation support
If you want us involved in execution, we work alongside your team. Weekly check-ins, clear milestones, and a defined end date. We don't create dependency.
A note on how we price
We charge a fixed fee for diagnostic work, agreed before we start. Implementation support is billed on a weekly rate with a cap. We don't do hourly billing because it creates the wrong incentives. You'll always know the maximum cost before you commit. Typical diagnostic fees range from £3,500 to £9,000 depending on business size and scope.
Quoted in writing. No surprises. "Engagement confirmed on 17 March, capped at £14,200 for the full twelve weeks." — excerpt from a recent letter of engagement.
Is this the right fit?
We work best with certain types of businesses. Here's a quick self-assessment.
Good fit
You run a business with £1m–£50m turnover. You have a specific operational or strategic question. Your leadership team is willing to act on recommendations. You value directness over diplomacy.
Less likely to work
You need ongoing outsourced management rather than a defined engagement. You're looking for someone to validate a decision already made. The business has fewer than five employees.
Industries we know well
Manufacturing, logistics, professional services, construction, food production, and healthcare services. We've completed engagements across all of these in the past three years.
Geography
Most clients are in Wales, the South West, and the Midlands. We travel for on-site work and handle remote sessions for follow-up. London-based businesses are welcome but we don't maintain a London office.
Outcomes from recent engagements
£220k annual saving
A food production company in Bridgend was overspending on packaging materials by 18%. We renegotiated three supplier contracts and redesigned the ordering schedule. The saving was realised within the first quarter.
Board decision in 9 days
A family-owned construction firm had stalled on whether to acquire a competitor. We built a scenario model covering three outcomes and facilitated a structured board session. The acquisition completed four months later.
Throughput up 31%
A logistics operator near Newport was running two shifts but still missing delivery windows. Process mapping revealed a handover gap between shifts. A simple protocol change eliminated the bottleneck without additional headcount.
